Jishaku Game Review and Giveaway

Are you starting to look for Christmas gifts? I know my mother-in-law is already asking us for gift ideas! I recently received a game called Jishaku, The Game of Magnetic Action. Jishaku is meant for ages 14 and up, but my 4 year old still had a good time playing with the magnets. Here's what the back of the box has to say:

As you howl with laughter and surprise...
Can you harness the magnets' power to outwit your opponent?
As the board fills with magnetic stones, you must use their force to your advantage.
So plot your move: Decide where and how you'll play your next magnet. Place it onto the force field.
Will you be safe... or sorry?

There are 4 different ways to play (or as I found with my 4 year old, you can also make up your own). Game #1 is called I'm Out. In this game, you take turns placing one magnet at a time on the board. If you stone connects with any other magnets, you remove your magnet and the ones it connects with. The first person to eliminate all their magnets wins. Game #2 is called Elimination and is a game of points. You collect points according to how many magnets connect when you place your magnet. Each player that reaches 10 points is eliminated and the last person left is the winner.

Game #3 is called Roundup and starts with 10 magnets on the board. The first player places a magnet on the board, trying to attract as many magnets as possible. That player removes their magnet and all magnets that connected to it. Then the next person goes. Play to 12 points to win the game. Game #4 is called Solitaire and is exactly that. One player tries to see how many magnets he/she can place on the board without any magnets connecting.

Here's a little information about the game:

Jishaku, the game, was born. A unique game of skill and intrigue, Jishaku, the Japanese word for magnet, holds surprises at every turn. Unlike traditional board games where moving a piece is only risky if a player happens to land on a dangerous square of the board, Jishaku players can never be certain if their next move will secure them a win or cost them the game when their move causes pieces to jump across the board and connect. The game is fast paced and a new player can learn the basics of game play in thirty seconds though individual strategies emerge as a player becomes more skilled. When the magnets connect, and as few as two to a dozen can and will, the reactions can be hilarious.
